About this project

SEAFOOD WITH A STORY

Creating traceability and identity for products across local supply chains is the first step towards more sustainable management of marine resources in a country surrounded by the ocean.

HARVESTED RESPONSIBLY

Using a risk-based assessment methodology, the Artesmar program identifies responsibly harvested and sustainably farmed seafood species across the Philippines’ archipelago.

FOCUS ON SMALLHOLDER PRODUCERS

Meliomar exclusively works with community-based fisheries and local farmers and supports their efforts in harvesting high quality seafood products in compliance with local laws and regulations.

QUALITY AS DRIVER FOR VALUE

Improving post-harvest handling, safeguarding proper chilling of the catch and securing food safety across the supply chain, are further important elements of the Artesmar program.

PROMOTE PARTNERSHIPS

Meliomar fosters active collaboration with local marine conservation and fisheries improvement programs and invests into building direct and transparent supply chains for seafood harvested by participating communities.

VERIFICATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY

The Artesmar program is specifically designed for responsible seafood sourcing in the Philippines. The underlying concept logic and standards define the requirements for commercialization.
