Working at Meliomar is not just another job in the seafood industry. It is a task that challenges our team on daily basis, as we are serving our oceans and customers alike!
Meliomar’s new facility hosts a modern, state of the art manufacturing complex for processing and packing fresh and chilled tuna and other seafood products in line with strictest food safety and quality standards.
Meliomar’s dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure the highest quality and sustainability with precision and care in every step.
Since its beginning, Meliomar’s purpose of business has been to bridge the gap between Filipino fishermen and global markets – and actively drive responsible practices within seafood supply chains.
Meliomar launches the new seafood brand by Blueyou in the Philippines market. As exclusive distributor, Meliomar will promote high quality seafood which serves the ocean, empower coastal communities and helps mitigating climate change!
In the realm of the pandemic, Meliomar had to transition its fresh seafood manufacturing facility to Paranaque, near Manila airport. The new facility has a capacity of 300 MT of fresh tuna loins and features full line electronic traceability systems.
During the global pandemic, many coastal communities have been cut-off from market access and lacked revenues for buying food. Supported by the MELOY FUND, Meliomar distributed food and medical supplies to remote fishing communities.
Serving the Metro Manila market with high quality, responsibly sourced seafood, Meliomar established itself as the leading supplier to large hotels, restaurant chains and high-quality supermarkets.
Partnering with the newly established MELOY FUND, Meliomar has been the first recipient of ocean impact investment directed to infrastructure, technology and working capital to support transition of local Filipino fisheries towards sustainability.
Meliomar initiates the Philippines Sustainable Seafood Week in collaboration with local NGO, hospitality companies and media. This annual event has been uniting stakeholders, creating awareness and sparking a collective movement of change for more sustainable seafood in the Philippines.
To build transparent and direct supply chains for locally harvested seafood, Meliomar launches its SeaChange program. Based on a risk-based methodology, SeaChange identifies responsible seafood choices from local fisheries and farming communities.
As fundamental basis for its one-to-one tuna traceability system, Meliomar develops the first tuna tagging system in Asia and implements it across its entire supply chain for handline-caught Yellowfin tuna. The system allows to track tuna loins to the catch vessels and fishing trips.
As one of the first elements of securing compliance with European import regulation, Meliomar and Blueyou develop an adapted version of the EU catch documentation, in close collaboration with the local bureau of fisheries (BFAR).
Meliomar is founded as local Filipino company by Blueyou to serve as private sector partner to Blueyou’s tuna fisheries improvement program under the name of ARTESMAR.
A world where seafood is harvested in balance with nature, contributing to planetary health and prosperous coastal communities in the Philippines.
